    Everything you need to know to vote in Alabama

    MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — In two months, Alabamians will head to the polls to vote. In addition to the presidential election, several vital local positions are on the ballot.

    While two months may seem like a long time, it’ll be here faster than you think.

    The first thing you need to do is check your voter registration status . Even if you voted in a previous election, make sure to check.

    If you aren’t registered to vote, Oct. 21 is the deadline to register. You can go online or to your local courthouse to register. A valid photo ID is required.

    Here you can find a list of all accepted forms of identification .

    If you do not have one of those forms of ID you can apply for a free Alabama Voter Identification Card using this form . It can be submitted to various locations including the Secretary of State’s Office, as well as your local county board of Registrar’s offices.

    For absentee voting , first, check to see if you’re eligible .

    In Mobile County, the Absentee Election Office will open next week on Wednesday, Sept. 11. It is located on the first floor of the Mobile County Government Center Annex (151 Government Street). You can vote there, in person starting next week, and your ballot will be kept secure until the election.

    You can also request an absentee ballot be mailed to you online or at your local Absentee Election office.
