Here’s who will receive funding and how it will be used, according to a Baldwin EMC press release:

    • Thomas Hospital Foundation: Support efforts to develop a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program at the hospital in Malbis.
    • One More Moment, Inc. : Provide support and educational resources to parents of children dealing with mental health crises.
    • North Baldwin Ecumenical Association : Provide financial assistance and emergency aid to residents in North Baldwin County.
    • Robertsdale Rotary Foundation: Support the foundation’s efforts to send residents to Alabama’s Special Camp for Children and Adults and the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards development program.
    • Youth Reach Gulf Coast: Support the long-term residential program designed to help at-risk men aged 18-22 turn their lives around.

The press release said the grants were made possible by Baldwin EMC’s Operation Round Up, which collects money for charitable causes by rounding up participating members’ electric bills.

“The extra change is then used to fund grants. To date, the program has distributed more than $6.5 million in grants to local agencies and individuals in need,” the release said.
