EUFAULA, Ala. (WDHN) — The Eufaula Police Department announced Tuesday morning that two juveniles were arrested for their alleged involvement in a Walmart fire last month .

According to Police Chief Danny Christ, the first suspect was arrested on August 16, and the second was taken into custody on September 9.

Police say the second arrest took longer due to an extradition process from Georgia.

Chief Christ tells WDHN that one of the suspects will be charged as an adult, and the other will face charges as a juvenile. Their ages have not been released.

Eufaula Police are not expecting any additional arrests.

Reports showed that the fire had started in the store’s home appliance section on the evening of August 10.

According to Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs, the fire is believed to have been arson and possibly part of a Social media challenge linked to damage other Walmart stores have experienced in the past.

The incident is still under investigation, but the EPD said they’d like to thank the State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Eufaula Fire Department for their assistance.
