Mobile residents can dispose of household hazardous waste at this city event (details)

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Mobile residents will soon be able to dispose of items that the city cannot accept during routine garbage collection as the city prepares to host the Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.

According to a city press release, the Household Hazardous Waste Collection is a free event scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds.

EVENT LOCATION:

The event allows Mobile residents to discard items that the city cannot accept during routine trash and garbage collection.

Below is a list of some items and whether they will be accepted at the event:

• Accepted items: automotive fluids, aerosols, batteries, fluorescent tubes, paint, cleaners, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers
• Unaccepted items: Scrap tires, explosives, firearms, electronics, pharmaceuticals, medical waste, appliances and equipment

Those who wish to participate in the upcoming event can find a full list of accepted and unaccepted items and register for a time slot on the event’s signup website .
