MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating after a three-vehicle crash left a Louisiana man dead and another injured in Mobile County on Wednesday.

Mobile Police releases operation ‘Red Light Blitz’ citation numbers

Kenneth L. Barker, 30, of Franklinton, Louisiana, was killed around 9:35 a.m. Wednesday in the crash on Interstate 10 near the 1-mile marker, according to ALEA. The location is approximately 13 miles west of Mobile in Mobile County.

The crash involved three commercial vehicles, authorities said:

    • A 2023 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Barker
    • A 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by a 54-year-old from Texas
    • A 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by a 34-year-old from Chicago

Troopers said Barker’s vehicle struck the 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer. The initial collision then caused the 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer to hit the back of the 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer, according to reports.

Barker, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was taken to University Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer was also injured in the crash and taken to the hospital. There is no update on the driver’s condition.

The driver of the 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer was not reported to be injured in the crash.

Baldwin County Fair opening day postponed

ALEA Highway Patrol Division troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.
