ROBERTSDALE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Nearly 150 first responders gathered today at the Baldwin County Coliseum to prepare for severe weather response in Florida.

Responders checked in and later drove to the Sunshine State, specifically Tallahassee, where they plan to evacuate health care facilities.

About 150 nurses, paramedics, and EMTs joined the 60-ambulance effort to coordinate the response.

The responders are monitoring communities from Panama City to Tampa Bay in case emergency services are needed quickly.

Clay Hobbs, chief operating officer of Pafford Medical Services, says this is the company’s third response this season.

“We have ambulances coming up from Miami Key West area to Kissimmee,” says Clay.

The responders plan to stay in Florida for a few weeks but will be available if communities need them.
