Chance to win $5,000 as American Red Cross provides incentives for blood donors

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — People looking to donate blood can get some perks while helping save lives as the American Red Cross announced awards for blood donors.

According to an American Red Cross press release, the following incentives are in place while the blood supply remains at critical levels:

• People who donate blood by Sept. 30 will receive a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of choice.
• Those who donate blood between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31 will receive a $10 Amazon gift card by email and will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards.

“Only 3 out of 100 Americans donate blood,” a release from the American Red Cross said. “With the blood supply still at critical levels, every single donation is key to making sure all patients relying on lifesaving transfusions, including car accident victims and those living with sickle cell disease, get the care they need.”
