JACKSON, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Jackson won its fourth straight game after one of the best performances in Alabama high school football history. Junior quarterback Landon Duckworth threw for 535 yards in the Aggies’ win over Mobile Christian and earned our week five Zaxby’s Player of the Week!

Duckworth was stellar in just three quarters of action. His 535 passing yards rank seventh all-time in a single game and the most of any player this season.

The Aggies quarterback’s performance was no surprise to Jackson head coach Cody Flournoy.

“One thing I didn’t know, it was a top 10 performance all time in the state,” Flournoy said. “I think it was seventh all time, and we pulled him after the third because we were up big. So, you know, had I known, I might have left him in there a little bit more. But, you know, it’s just good sportsmanship, and he’s a good kid, and he’s doing things right. And what we’ve seen Friday night is kind of what we’ve seen all summer, what we know he can do and the reason why he’s got big-time offers.”

The highly touted quarterback’s performance was one for the history books against the defending 3A state champions.

“Passing game, we’re pretty good,” Duckworth said. “The o-line did good. The receivers did good. We were prepared, but I think I was kind of in a slump the first few weeks, so I think I had to step it up. You know, kind of got it together every week and did what we had to do.”

Duckworth said he felt his performance brought him back to where he needed to be as a player and that it’s a good feeling to know the offense can move the ball in a variety of ways.

“It feels good knowing we can really do anything, throw it, run it,” he said. “We got a good o-line. It feels good, like I can do anything with my team.”

Aggies coach Flournoy said the team is preparing with a championship mentality, but the way to accomplish their goals, they’ll have to continue to get better each week.

The Aggies will take on LeFlore on Friday ahead of a huge top-10 matchup in 4A Region 1 against St. Michael next week.
