    Eight Mile man killed in commercial vehicle crash: ALEA

    ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — An Eight Mile man was killed Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash involving a commercial vehicle, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

    63-year-old David W. Odell was killed when the 2024 Freightliner dump truck he was driving left the roadway and overturned.

    According to ALEA, he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

    An ALEA spokesperson said the crash occurred on Atmosphere Road near Poarch Road, which is about 6 miles north of Atmore in Escambia County.

    ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is still investigating.
