BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Even before the cone of uncertainty became more certain, the call for help went out to Baldwin County utility companies.

Crews in Foley, Summerdale and Daphne answered the call leaving for some of the hardest-hit areas on Friday.

Millions were left without electricity after Helene’s wind, rain and storm surge ripped through anything that stood in its way. But help is on the way.

“We sent crews from both our Daphne office and our Foley office to go help the city of Tallahassee with their restoration efforts,” Riviera Utilities CEO and President Brian Skelton said.

Twenty-two Baldwin EMC linemen and support staff are headed to Georgia where the co-op serves seven counties between Macon and Savannah without any idea what they will find.

“We just know every storm is different,” Baldwin EMC District Operations Manager Buddy Miller said. “There could be a lot of polls down or a lot of damage. We just plan for the worst case scenario.”
