    Atmore man arrested in shooting that left person critically injured: Police

    UPDATE (Sept. 30, 3:20 p.m.): An Atmore man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a person critically injured over the weekend, according to the Atmore Police Department.

    Atmore police officers responded to Atmore Community Hospital around 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, after they were notified of a gunshot victim transported by private vehicle.

    The person was shot in the parking lot of Mike and Ike Food Mart on Carver Avenue during a physical altercation, police said.

    LOCATION:

    The person shot was taken by helicopter to a trauma center.

    Baldwin County deputy arrested Sunday night, officials say

    As of Monday morning, the person who was shot is in critical condition in an intensive care unit.

    Investigators identified 23-year-old Edward La’Marlon Jaheim Williams of Atmore as the suspect.

    APD took him into custody at 1:35 p.m. Monday at a home. He is charged with attempted murder and is currently in the Escambia County, Alabama Detention Center.

    The investigation remains ongoing.

    ATMORE, Ala. (WKRG) — One person was seriously wounded after a shooting late Saturday night in Atmore.

    According to a news release from Atmore Police, officers responded to Atmore Community Hospital just before midnight Saturday for the report of one person shot.

    A person with a gunshot wound was taken by private vehicle to the hospital. The victim was in serious condition and flown to a trauma center. Police are still trying to identify a suspect.

    The news release didn’t say where the shooting happened or what circumstances led to the shooting. We’ve reached out to Atmore Police for more information and are waiting to hear back.
