MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Texas woman was sentenced in Alabama to five years in prison after she participated in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy, according to the United States Department of Justice.

Court documents show a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit Task Force Officer stopped Zolia Rosa Zuniga on Interstate 10 for driving too closely behind another vehicle.

Several “suspicious circumstances” prompted the officer to deploy his canine, Darlin, to sniff the vehicle, and Darlin alerted the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.

Law enforcement ultimately searched the vehicle and found about 32 pounds of methamphetamine behind the vehicle’s speakers.

Zuniga told law enforcement that she knowingly agreed to take the drugs from Mexico for an individual who agreed to pay her $10,000. She admitted she was driving from Texas to Tampa, Florida when she was stopped in Baldwin County.
