    Killeen FD specialist leading search and rescue in Florida

    FLORIDA / KILLEEN, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – A member of the Killeen Fire Department is leading search and rescue efforts in Florida after Hurricane Helene.

    According to the Texas Task Force Foundation, Phillip “Flip” Bannister is a Technical Search Specialist on Texas A&M Task Force 1. He also leads and trains the Texas Task Force 1 Water Rescue Team.

    For Bannister’s full-time job, he is a Battalion Chief at the Killeen Fire Department and leads the technical rescue team as Team Commander. He is also one of the lead paramedic instructors at Central Texas College and is a TEEX Wide Area Search Instructor.
