Drug Education Council on the fentanyl crisis in Mobile County

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — As WKRG and parent company Nexstar work to highlight the fentanyl crisis, Drug Education Council Executive Director Virginia Guy discussed what is happening on the front lines with the epidemic.

Guy joined WKRG News 5’s Shamonee Baker and Bill Riales on the Red Couch to discuss what is happening in Mobile County.

She says the main goal is prevention, especially with the dangers of the drug.

“This is the most dangerous time I have ever seen for street drug use,” Guy said. “Anything that you get off the streets, online, from a friend should be considered to possibly have a deadly dose of fentanyl in it. We know that the majority of street drugs do have fentanyl in them and it is just incredibly dangerous.”
