THEODORE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Theodore resident’s daughter notified him Thursday night that their family’s goat was missing.

Kenneth Allen and his family have owned Peanut, the goat, for nearly two years.

The family also has four other goats along with chickens and ducks.

After finding out that Peanut was missing, Allen looked at the camera footage installed at his home and was taken aback by what he saw.

“I was looking through the video and saw Peanut being executed,” Allen said. “And I saw my babies being beat with a baseball bat.”

Video showed the goats were roaming throughout the neighborhood when a neighbor, who lives a few doors down, beat the goats with a baseball bat. The neighbor also shot Peanut, hauled him into the back of a pickup truck and drove away.

Allen said his oldest daughter stayed home from school because she was devastated by the news.

Allen also told News 5 that the suspect’s wife allegedly offered to pay him $350 to not speak on the situation.

Mobile police are investigating the motive behind the incident, and the neighbor allegedly responsible will likely be charged with misdemeanor charges, which could include trespassing.

WKRG attempted to speak to the neighbor to get his side of the story but received no answer.

Allen said his family gave all five goats remaining to a family in Semmes in fear of their safety.

Allen also completed a fence project around his home on Tuesday to keep intruders out and keep his family safe.
