    Alabama Sen. Katie Britt set to speak at upcoming event on addiction in Mobile

    MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Alabama Senator Katie Britt (R) is preparing to come to the University of South Alabama for an upcoming event focusing on the addiction epidemic.

    The event is “Addressing The Addiction Epidemic: A Conversation With Senator Katie Britt.”

    According to a news release, Senator Britt is partnering with the American Addiction Recovery Association, the Georgia Council for Recovery, and the University of South Alabama to host the event scheduled for 3 p.m to 5 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the MacQueen Alumni Center.

    EVENT LOCATION:

    Event organizers said the event is important as “addiction is ravishing across Alabama.” According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration , 48.5 million people aged 12 or over had a substance use disorder in the past year as of 2023.

    The event will have a panel of speakers moderated by Jeff Breedlove, the founder and CEO of the American Addiction Recovery Association.
