    Coden man arrested after leading police on short chase: MPD

    MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Officers with the Mobile Police Department arrested a man after he allegedly led them on a short vehicle chase Wednesday night.

    According to an MPD news release, officers were called to the 1700 block of Winston Road around 10 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired.

    LOCATION:

    When officers arrived, witnesses described a vehicle seen near Dauphin Island Parkway and Marina Drive South.

    The MPD release said that officers later found the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the driver refused to stop.

    The man, now identified as 29-year-old Matthew Ryan Casper, led police on a short chase before pulling onto Winston Road, where officers saw him throw a gun out of the window, according to officials.

    Casper was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and felony attempt to elude.
