PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Grab your best matey and put on your eyepatches, the Pirates of the High Seas & Renaissance Fest is back in Panama City Beach for another year beginning in just a few hours.

The doors open to this free festival held at Aaron Bessant Park at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 11th, then 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 12th, and noon on Sunday, October 13th.

Some of this weekend’s entertainment includes a live mermaid exhibit, a fire circus, and even a swordfight between knights in armor.

This festival has grown in popularity over the past few years due to the uniqueness of the entertainment and how it brings the Panama City Beach and Bay County communities closer.

“We have great partnerships with the Pirates of the White Sands and the Krewe of Dominique Youx and they just love helping us put it on,” Visit Panama City Beach Communications Manager Sydney Clifton said. “I think everybody just wants to see the community come together and also the excitement on the kids faces every year is just everything to us. We are going to keep doing it and be happy to keep doing it.”

Some of the festival’s biggest attractions include a kid’s parade Friday at 6:30 p.m. and the main parade Saturday at 5 p.m.

There is a new parade route this year, click here to view the route .
