CHUNCHULA, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A new Proplate facility is coming to Chunchula and is expected to bring 30 jobs to Mobile County over the first three years, according to the Mobile Chamber.

Proplate is a “global provider of integrated production solutions in steel fabrication,” according to the news release.

Proplate is investing $1 million into the new U.S. facility.

“We have been delivering components to the USA from Sweden for many years. We are keen to secure our presence in this important market by establishing an integrated production facility in Alabama,” said Ian Hardy, member of the Proplate executive team and owner of the U.S. Project.

“This allows us to further improve our service to our existing customers and to expand our deliveries to new customers. We are all very excited about this new venture.”

Mobile Chamber President and CEO Bradley Byrne said this will have a positive impact on the local economy.

“Proplate’s investment in Chunchula is a win for our community. It not only brings new jobs but also represents a long-term commitment to the growth and prosperity of North Mobile County,” said Byrne.

The new facility will specialize in, “high-quality steel fabrication, including cutting, machining, grinding, painting, blasting, and welding,” according to the release.

Proplate provides its services to multiple “world-leading” companies including Liebherr, Manitowoc, and Toyota Material Handling.

Merceria Ludgood, Mobile County’s district one commissioner, said, “We’re excited about the growth this project brings to the north-central part of Mobile County. Proplate’s new facility is another example of a global investment that will help strengthen our manufacturing sector, boost our local economy, and add new local jobs.”
