    2 children, man shot while driving in west Birmingham

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Police are investigating a shooting in the 1400 block of Third Avenue West that injured two children and an adult Tuesday night.

    According to Sgt. LaQuitta Wade, Birmingham officers were dispatched to the area at 8:11 p.m. on a ShotSpotter alert.

    Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported two juveniles to Children’s Hospital, one with life-threatening injuries. An adult male was transported to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    4 arrested after drugs, guns seized in Jefferson County

    The preliminary investigation suggests that a family of five was traveling by car on Third Avenue West when an vehicle pulled up beside them. The driver or a passenger inside fired shots at the family car and fled the scene. There is no one in custody at this time.

    Those with information on the case are urged to call BPD at 205-297-8413 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
