MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Fall is a time when many people decorate their homes and yards for Halloween and the season in general.

Here are the steps Smith said to make a fall centerpiece that will last:

    • Start with a basket for harvest season
    • Use oasis flower arranging foam and a drip pan. Smith noted that it is important to know where you want the flowers to go since the foam compacts down.
    • Hamelia (Firebush) as a filler due to the beautiful fall colors
    • Acalypha wilkesiana (Copper plant). Smith said it is a tropical plant but has fall colors.
