    Fort Walton Beach man accused of selling fentanyl to teen who overdosed: OCSO

    FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. ( WKRG ) — A Fort Walton Beach man is accused of homicide after a 16-year-old’s overdose death, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

    An OCSO news release said an investigation into the teen’s drug overdose death led to the arrest of 21-year-old Quion Cortez Purnell.

    Purnell is charged with homicide caused by the unlawful distribution of fentanyl. He was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and is being held in the Okaloosa County Jail, News 5 has learned.

    Investigators said Purnell sold the 16-year-old victim fentanyl on Aug. 10, 2023. The teenager was found unresponsive at a Fort Walton Beach home and pronounced dead.

    The District One Medical Examiner’s Office in Florida said the teenager’s death to be due to “intoxication with fentanyl.”

    my God they need to make fentynal charges so horrible no one will want to sell it kids are dying there is no experimenting as a teen anymore it's Russian roulette so sad 😢
