MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — It’s time for Greek Fest, and Cammie Wayne, the owner of Cammie’s Old Dutch Ice Cream Shop, joined WKRG News 5’s Shamonee Baker and Bill Riales on the Red Couch to talk about one of the food items available at the event.

Wayne said she would have her baklava ice cream at the festival. According to Allrecipes , “Baklava is a delicious Greek dessert made up of layers of crispy phyllo dough, honey, and nuts that’s so easy to make.”

She brought samples of the ice cream to the red couch for Shamonee and Bill to try and explained the process of making the dessert:

“Baklava is very heavy because it has the honey and it has the syrup so you kind of drain that off, Wayne said. “Then I would put the syrup in the machine where it was blending with the ice cream and then as the ice cream is coming out, then I’m folding in more baklava.”

The ice cream will be available on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Greek Fest, which is located at the ASMS West Presbyterian Church.
