The Franklin Police Department posted about the incident on X — formerly known as Twitter — just after 11:30 a.m., asking motorists to find alternate routes.

“A multi-vehicle crash on I-65 north at the Murfreesboro Rd. exit is causing delays in the area. FPD units are on the scene. Please seek an alternate route if possible,” the department said.

Traffic cameras in the area captured vehicles in the northbound lanes backed up for miles in Williamson County.

According to police, three vehicles were involved in the crash. Injuries were reported, but all are believed to be non-critical at this time, officials said.

Shortly before 3 p.m., authorities announced all lanes were back open on I-65 North, but TDOT’s traffic camera at mile marker 64 showed traffic nearly at a standstill. However, traffic returned to its normal flow later Sunday afternoon.

It remains unclear what led to the crash.
