    Man charged after woman’s body found in DeKalb County cornfield

    WARREN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man has been arrested after a woman’s body was found in a cornfield in DeKalb County.

    Joshua Goff was charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of 29-year-old Rebecca Maxfield, of Smithville.

    Maxfield was reported missing on Sunday, Aug. 4. Her body was found days later by a Warren County investigator inside a vehicle in a cornfield along new Bildad Road.

    According to a release, investigators discovered Maxfield’s phone had pinged in Warren County where she was last seen.

    An arrest report later revealed that Goff found Maxfield deceased inside a vehicle and waited two days before moving her body to the cornfield on New Bildad Road.

    Goff was taken into custody Monday and booked into the Warren County jail. His bond was set at $60,000.
