Maury County Fire Department rescues person from skid steer

MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Maury County Fire Department rescued someone trapped under heavy equipment on Wednesday night.

In a Facebook post , the department said units were initially alerted to a person trapped in heavy equipment at 7:04 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Multiple units were reportedly deployed to Terrapin Branch Road and found a skid steer operator roughly 300 yards behind a house in a heavily wooded area atop a steep hill.

A skid steer is a piece of construction equipment primarily used to dig and haul materials like dirt.

The person’s lower extremities were trapped under the skid steer’s cab, the department added. Deputies unloaded equipment from a truck and transported it to the steep wooded area where they were trapped.

“Members quickly secured a chain to the top of the cab and used a power puller attached to a tree to lift the cab,” the department added. “Maury Regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Paramedics provided care to the patient throughout the rescue.”

The patient, not identified in the post, was loaded in a stokes basket and lowered down the hill to an ambulance.
