Motorcycle passenger dead after crash along Old Hickory Boulevard

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Charges are expected following a Saturday night crash along Old Hickory Boulevard that resulted in the death of a woman riding a motorcycle, according to Nashville authorities.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said the preliminary investigation indicates a Suzuki motorcycle was heading north at a high rate of speed when it hit the passenger side of a southbound Chevrolet Malibu as it was turning left into the Kroger parking lot in the 5000 block of Old Hickory Boulevard around 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Officials said the person operating the motorcycle — identified as 29-year-old Trevario Pillar — and the 26-year-old female passenger were separated from the Suzuki before it came to rest in the middle of the road.

According to police, Pillar admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day. A search warrant was obtained for his blood.

However, the Chevrolet driver showed no signs of impairment at the scene, authorities said.

MNPD said the 26-year-old passenger was brought to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where she died. Efforts are underway to notify her family, but her identity has yet to be released.

“The investigation will be staffed with the District Attorney’s Office upon its conclusion,” officials said in a statement on Sunday, Aug. 25.

No additional details have been released about this deadly incident, including the nature of the anticipated charges.
