Human remains found near Coffee County railroad tracks

COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Local and state officials are investigating after human remains were found in Coffee County.

According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the area of Vaughn Speckleton Road near the railroad tracks Sunday, Aug. 25, to investigate a human remains call.

The remains were located by someone checking their deer cameras, the department said.

Coffee County Sheriff’s Investigators, as well as Manchester Police Department Investigators and the Coffee County EMS Director processed the scene around the remains, according to a release from the department.

The remains have been transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.

According to the sheriff’s department, the case is being investigated as natural causes rather than homicide.
