NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The humidity will decrease after a cold front arrives on Sunday. Ahead of that front, rain and storms will be likely at times. There is a risk of severe weather, particularly on Saturday, in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky.

    NO Air Quality Alert

While there is no alert for poor air quality in our region Friday, the forecast from the Tennessee Environment & Conservation calls for ozone to remain in the “Moderate” category.

    Friday

The heat high has moved to the east, allowing for even more moisture to enter the picture for rain and thunderstorms. The coverage Friday is not great, but everyone will have a chance of rain. A few storms may briefly delay start times for high school football games, but all rain should end by 9 p.m.

    Saturday

There is a level 1/5 Marginal Risk for strong thunderstorms for just about all of our region. This means a few of the storms that develop could turn strong or severe.

The primary severe weather risk is damaging wind gusts because of the plentiful Gulf moisture. However, lightning and heavy rain is possible within any storm.

Looking at Saturday, area storms will develop in the daytime heating. These will be scattered, but unfortunately not everyone will see rain.
