    Clarksville man dies after crash on Whites Creek Pike

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man has died following a Tuesday afternoon crash on Whites Creek Pike, officials announced.

    The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said the crash happened at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Whites Creek Pike near Jackman Road.

    The 46-year-old driver, identified as William Payne of Clarksville, was reportedly traveling northbound in a BMW 28I sedan when he left the roadway, drove into a ditch and struck a utility pole, police said.

    Payne was taken to Skyline Medical Center where he died. Officials said there were no signs of impairment at the scene and he was wearing his seatbelt.
