NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A musician is fighting for his life after being involved in a motorcycle wreck on the way to play at Tootsie’s.

Dalton Black is a singer a Tootsie’s, a Broadway staple.

“I’m in awe every time I see him perform,” his wife, Samantha Black, told News 2. “It’s like seeing your favorite celebrity.”

Samantha has wondered if he would ever be able to take the stage again. Last Friday, she said that Dalton took his motorcycle to work.

“One day, you’re doing something with your family and it’s just a normal, routine to go to work and come home,” Samantha said. “And then the next — your life is flipped upside-down.”

The couple shares their location for safety reasons.

“I had seen that he was stopped at a gas station for a longer time than is normal,” Samantha said. “I refreshed it and next thing I know, the location was at a hospital.”

Metro police said that a car cut Dalton off, causing him to swerve and wreck his bike. They want to talk to witnesses and the driver.

“They were able to relieve the swelling and pressure off his brain after surgery on Friday night,” Samantha said. “Now, we’re seeing everyday what his responses are. He’s able to mumble a few words.”

Samantha said that she is speaking out out because she wants drivers to pay better attention to motorcyclists.

“Dalton wasn’t speeding. He was driving very safe,” she said. “Whether it’s an accident or not, it could change somebody’s life forever.”

Samantha said that Dalton is a bright light in her life and a shining star on Broadway. She added that he’s been giving her small signs of recovery.
