    Traffic stop on Interstate 40 leads to arrest of convicted felon

    PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Friday that led to both the apprehension of a convicted felon and the seizure of drugs.

    In a press release, the sheriff’s office said that Tony Lee McCloud was stopped on Interstate 40 due to possible impairment. Initially, McCloud did not get out of the vehicle, however, deputies were later able to remove him. A search of the vehicle yielded:

    • 43 grams of cocaine
    • 15 grams of methamphetamine
    • 11 grams of crack cocaine
    • $8,331 in US currency
    • A firearm
    • Various drug paraphernalia

    The sheriff’s office added that they discovered that McCloud was a convicted felon after looking into his criminal history.

    He faces multiple charges as a result of the stop, including possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, driving under the influence, resisting arrest and the possession of drug paraphernalia as well as several related drug and firearm possession charges.
