    Student stabbed at Oakland High School in Murfreesboro

    MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A student was stabbed at Oakland High School in Murfreesboro Friday morning.

    The incident happened between two students during a transition between classes.

    Principal John Marshall said one student assaulted another student over a prior incident.

    The school, district, and School Resource Officers (SROs) immediately implemented our safety protocols, and the individual responsible was taken into custody.
    All students and staff are safe, and school activities have resumed. Please know that we take these matters seriously. Any student who does not adhere to our policies or disrupts the learning environment will face severe disciplinary action.

    The student’s condition and extent of their injuries was not released.

    After the district alerted parents about the incident, some came to pick up their children up from school.

    “I was scared and my heart instantly dropped,” said Ashlie Smith, a parent of a student. “My heart instantly dropped as I thought my daughter might the one getting hurt.”

    Other parents told News 2 due to the recent school shooting in Georgia and the number of threats happening across Middle Tennessee, they didn’t feel safe leaving their kids at school.
