    Man accused in Soho Lounge shooting indicted on federal gun charge

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 25-year-old Nashville man now faces a federal gun charge related to a shooting at a Nashville night club that left six people wounded.

    According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Metro Nashville Police responded to the shooting call outside Soho Bar on Bell Road around 2 a.m. on April 14. As they responded, they encountered Erik Dewaun Williams holding a pistol. Authorities said he threw it down when he noticed them and tried to run, but he was taken into custody and his gun was recovered.

    Metro police arrested Williams on six counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon.

    At the time of his arrest, Williams had been previously convicted of felonies in Rutherford and Sumner counties and was out on bond on state gun charges.

    A federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Williams with being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to U.S. Attorney Henry C. Leventis for the Middle District of Tennessee.

    The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as well as the Metro Nashville Police Department.
