NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A student at Whites Creek High School is facing charges after he reportedly told administrators he would “blow the school up” Tuesday.

Officials said School Resources Officers (SROs) were notified after the 11th grader made the alleged threat, and the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Rapid School Safety team responded to take the teen to Juvenile Court.

The student has been charged with making a threat of mass violence, according to the police department.

The incident marks another arrest in a series of recent threats made against Middle Tennessee schools. Districts in Cannon, Trousdale, Franklin, Humphreys, Macon, Warren and Davidson Counties have all been impacted, with some incidents prompting schools to go on lockdowns within the past few weeks.

On Monday, Trousdale County High School was placed on a brief lockdown after officials received information indicating that a student had left home without permission and two guns were missing from the residence.

In a news release Tuesday, Metro Nashville police said threats against schools, special events and businesses are “taken very seriously” and “those responsible, once identified, will be prosecuted.”
