The Metro Nashville Police Department said the preliminary investigation shows 18-year-old Zakaria Elmi was driving a Toyota Camry south on Brick Church Pike when, for unknown reasons, he veered to the right and crashed into a traffic light pole.

Officials said the Nashville man — who was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision — was brought to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where he died.
