COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Coffee County man has pleaded guilty to tax charges following an investigation by the Tennessee Department of Revenue’s Special Investigations Section.

On Wednesday, Sept. 25, Judge Robert Carter accepted Matthew Aussiker’s guilty plea to two counts of depriving the state of its lawful revenue stemming from his fraudulent registration of two boats at the Coffee County Clerk’s Office, according to officials. The judge sentenced Aussiker to two years of supervised probation and ordered him to pay restitution to the Department of Revenue.

“The Department of Revenue strives to promote voluntary compliance of Tennessee’s tax laws by educating taxpayers and pursuing criminal sanctions for accountability of fraudulent actors,” said Revenue Commissioner David Gerregano. “This guilty plea underscores the department’s efforts to ensure fair administration of Tennessee’s tax laws.”

The department said it worked with the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference while pursuing this criminal case. No additional details have been released about the investigation.
