ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 17-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries following a Friday morning crash involving a stolen vehicle on Murfreesboro Pike, according to authorities.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said the crash happened on Murfreesboro Pike near Morris Gentry Boulevard on Friday, Oct. 4.

Investigators said a preliminary investigation indicates that the 17-year-old was driving a stolen Audi Q5 at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles in the right turn lane when he hit a curb, causing the vehicle to go airborne and hit a utility pole and culvert.

The teen was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt and was found 115 feet away from the Audi after the crash. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.

According to MNPD, the Audi was reported stolen on Thursday, Oct. 3, from the garage of a home located on Criddle Street. The keys were left inside the vehicle.
