A press release from the DOJ said 24-year-old Robert Bailey, Jr., 19-year-old Demond Johnson, Jr. and 26-year-old Ryan Smith of Houston, Texas were indicted on one count of bank larceny. The DOJ said in November 2023, the men stole over $50,000 from an ATM on Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro as it was being repaired.

Smith was arrested while riding an Uber on Interstate 24 and Johnson was arrested at the Nashville International Airport. Bailey was arrested on a later date after catching a flight to Houston.

The DOJ said law enforcement officers were able to seize the bag containing the stolen money when it arrived at the Houston Hobby Airport. The FBI, both Nashville and Houston’s field offices, the Murfreesboro Police Department and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation, according to Monday’s release.
