Man charged with burglarizing Davidson Co. home twice in one night

DAVIDSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was arrested after reportedly being caught on a security camera burglarizing a home twice in one night between visits from officers, according to court documents.

Prince Easley, 58, was taken into custody after Metro police obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On Oct. 2, the resident of a home in Davidson County, who was not present during the incident, watched on home security cameras as a man entered their house and left with a flatscreen television. The victim was able to give police a description of the man and tell them the direction he headed after he left.

The security footage showed a man in a black baseball cap walking in the backyard and leaving with the TV, according to documents.

Officers arrived at the home and saw the back door and its deadbolt were visibly damaged to where the door could not be locked. The victim told police a 65-inch television should have been in the living room, but it was missing, officials reported.

A witness came to police and informed them they had captured security footage of a man carrying a flatscreen TV in an alleyway close to the scene. The witness told officers they recognized the suspect and provided Easley’s name and possible address.

Documents state that during the investigation, the information about Easley in MNPD’s database matched the description of the suspect in the security footage. While searching for him, officers received another report from the victim stating that Easley returned to the property less than an hour after the first burglary.

He was gone by the time officers arrived. The victim told police they saw him on security footage taking speakers out of the house. It was reported that officers recalled seeing speakers at the home when they visited initially, but noticed that they had disappeared during their second search.

The victim allowed officers to stay at the house in case the suspect returned once again, which he reportedly did.

Officers saw a man in the area behind the house who fled on a bicycle. They followed him on foot and attempted to arrest him, but he refused to stop, officials said.

Officers obtained a warrant for Easley’s arrest and he was taken into custody early Tuesday morning.

Easley is being held in Metro jail on a $35,000 bond.
