NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man who is accused of assaulting two men and chasing them with a glass bottle in downtown Nashville has been taken into custody, officials said.

Officers arrested Michael Ashe, 37, after responding to the incident on Monday, Oct. 7.

According to an arrest report, police were sent to Broadway near Bridgestone Arena just after 8 p.m. where they were met by two men who were speaking to a state trooper.

The victims called law enforcement to report a man acting disruptively who had chased them with a glass bottle, according to reports.

One victim allegedly told police that the suspect—identified as Ashe—hit him multiple times, leaving a small cut on his left hand. In addition, police said a witness recorded a video on their cell phone of Ashe chasing the first victim and hitting him while holding the bottle in his other hand, reports said.

Police said a second victim told officers that Ashe put the bottle on the ground before punching him in the left side of his face, leaving a bruise.

When officers found Ashe walking east on Broadway, he was holding a large glass bottle containing alcohol. Police reported the bottle was 11 inches tall and about one-fifth of the way full.

Documents said Ashe gave police permission to search him and officers reportedly found a “small half of a pen” with a dark substance on it in his pocket, which an officer recognized as a device used to consume drugs. Ashe allegedly admitted to officers that he used it to smoke crack cocaine.

After his arrest, officers found a small bag in another pocket with a small rock inside. An officer “field-tested” the rock and found it to be 0.4 grams of crack cocaine, reports said.

Ashe was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, assault and public intoxication.

He is being held in Metro jail on a $28,100 bond.
