GOODLETTSVLLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In December 1997, Nashville’s beloved Opryland USA closed down. More than 26 years later, people from across the country traveled to Middle Tennessee to bid thousands of dollars on memorabilia from the iconic amusement park.

From artwork to furniture to antiques, Michael Jordan, co-owner of Treasure Trust Estate Sales , has worked dozens of estate sales across the state.

“We’ve done sales all over the Middle Tennessee area. We have never come across these Opryland signs, this kind of memorabilia. It’s very special,” Dianne Sturdivant, co-owner of Treasure Trust Estate Sales, said.

Sturdivant said these items are a true treasure.

“When I saw them, I immediately begin to think about my son and daughter who worked at Opryland,” Jordan said.

Opryland USA opened in May 1972. Walt Disney World opened just six months earlier.

“It’s the most magical place in the world. It truly was. From the entrance, when you walked through those gates and you entered, the magic begins,” Jordan said.

Therefore, it was no surprise that by the early morning hours on Thursday, Oct. 10, a line had formed, full of people eager to get a look at these items.

“I came out today to take pictures of all the Opryland memorabilia if I can’t afford to buy any of it,” Candice Beasley said.

The signs were all attached to expensive price tags.

“We have had people say they’re talking thousands of dollars, but we’ll see,” Sturdivant said.

In order to make the process fair, Sturdivant said people can put in bids on the items, seeing as some buyers are calling from out of state.

“We’ve received phone calls from several states. People are very interested. These signs don’t come on the market very often,” Sturdivant said.

“It’s wonderful that there is such love still for Opryland,” Jordan said.
