NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Beloved Wedgewood-Houston restaurant Smokin’ Thighs announced on social media that, after 10 years and the unexpected loss of the owner, the locale would close.

A Facebook post said that the restaurant’s last day of service would be Sunday, Oct. 13. The restaurant gave a special thanks to current and past employees and the Nashville community.

“Your unwavering support of our family, particularly in these past months, has been remarkable. Without you Matt’s dream would never have become a reality,” the post, signed by Molly, reads. “…You leave me with many fond memories of who he was and what he hoped to create. On behalf of everyone at Smokin’ Thighs, it has been our greatest honor to serve you.”

The announcement came after the owner of Smokin’ Thighs, Matt Carney , suffered serious head trauma following a hit-and-run in the establishment’s parking lot. Carney died from his injuries while at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

In July, the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) released the name and photo of a man, Ulises Martinez, wanted for questioning in connection with the incident. Days later, Martinez was taken into custody and charged with criminal homicide and evidence tampering.

I have never eaten there, but I have driven past it several times, and it smelled delicious.
