    Interstate 40 East partially closed in Hickman County due to semi-truck crash

    HICKMAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced that a multi-vehicle crash has closed all but one of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 in Hickman County.

    The crash was reported at 3:36 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. A TDOT spokesperson told News 2 that the crash involved a vehicle fire involving two semi-trucks. The spokesperson added that the crash and fire happened mile marker 158.

    One truck was reportedly hauling paint pigment and some of the contents have spilled onto the roadway, according to the spokesperson. TDOT Smartway maps indicated that the backup lasted for miles.

    It remains unclear when the eastbound lanes are expected to fully reopen.

    Just after 5 p.m., TDOT announced that one lane reopened.
