Small towns are a dime a dozen, but there is one in each state that stands out from the rest to provide the most unique and memorable experience to visitors and tourists alike.

Be it a quaint town square, picturesque park, or quirky presence, something about this Illinois town makes it so unforgettable that it landed on a list of the United States' most charming small towns.

If you've been searching for a place to explore, perhaps away from the hustle and bustle of the state's biggest cities and most popular tourist attractions, look no further than this state gem!

According to an updated list compiled by Thrillist , the most charming small town in all of Illinois is Galena . This town was named most charming due to its vintage shops and stunning galleries.

Here's what Thrillist had to say about the most charming small town in the entire state:

"Drive 10 minutes east of the mighty Mississippi and you'll tap right into the quirky small-town vibes of Galena. Once the home of Ulysses S. Grant, Galena boasts cobblestone streets and historic mansions, plus an old-school blacksmith shop and the P.T. Murphy Magic Theater. A free trolley ride will drop you downtown, where you can stroll Main Street’s restaurants, antique shops, galleries, and boutiques bursting with kitsch. If you’re feeling active, book a rafting trip, hit up the nearby ski resort, or try the 40-acre Horseshoe Mound, known for its winding bike trails and scenic views all the way to Iowa and Wisconsin."

Will they ever get tired of overhyping this overpriced tourist trap? You would seem to think that this is the only town in this state that’s worth visiting. IT’S NOT.
