Power restored across Grand Ledge

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Consumers Energy is reporting that as of 11:50 Thursday morning more than 5,000 customers were without power in and around the Grand Ledge area.

Shortly after 2 p.m., Consumers Energy’s outage map showed the number of customers affected was almost zero.

At this time there’s no word on what caused this large outage and originally Consumers Energy estimated a restore time of 5:30 today.

According to Consumers Energy workers at what appears to be a substation on the 500 block of West Main in Grand Ledge, there was an equipment failure.

Also at that substation is a large black mark — similar to where a fire could have happened — that workers are focusing their attention on.

The University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Urgent Care in Grand Ledge is one of the many businesses without power and posted about it on social media.
