LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Thousands of kids throughout Mid-Michigan returned to school this week.

6 News anchors Jorma Duran and Megan Viecelli talked with Sarah Smith, MS, RDN, a registered dietitian with the University of Michigan Health – Sparrow, about some healthy habits for proper back-to-school eating.

She says planning is key, and it’s best to involve your kids with planning because they likely will be more inclined to eat the meals and snacks you’ve planned together.

Smith also suggests making sure your students start their day with breakfast for increased concentration, better problem-solving skills, fewer missed days of school, and more energy.
