LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Reagan, a canine advocate in the Eaton County Prosecutor’s Office, has died.

The black lab mix served in a support role in the prosecutor’s office for 11 years, Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd reported in a news release.

In the announcement, Lloyd and his team offered this assessment of the dog’s contributions:

Reagan also brought a sense of loyalty to his coworkers at the Prosecutor’s Office, who considered him the best employee the office ever had. His only demands were treats and the occasional belly rub. Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney Doug Lloyd says Reagan was the only employee allowed to nap on the job, but he earned that privilege because of the comfort he brought to others.

Reagan lived with Investigator Bryan Seratt and his family.

Lloyd noted that Reagan provided comfort to crime survivors throughout the criminal prosecution process, including time in court. He noted the dog was particularly supportive of children.

Reagan was Michigan’s 5th support dog in the courts.

His compatriot Strider, another canine, will take up Reagan’s duties.
