Heat and humidity start to increase as summer returns to mid-Michigan

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Heat and humidity continue to move in for the final week of August as summer makes her return to the forecast.
It was a muggy start to the day today with temperatures gradually warming from the 60s well into the 70s for this morning. Daytime highs will reach the mid to upper 80s and will feel like the 90s at times thanks to a little bit more humidity returning to the forecast.
A mix of clouds and sunshine will be in the forecast for the day while some spots see mostly sunny skies, depending on how much cloud cover we get a few spots across mid-Michigan could see temperatures close to 90 degrees for today!
Clouds do start to return and there is a slight chance for a pop-up shower or storm but most of the area will stay dry, so keep an eye to the sky if you have any outdoor plans this afternoon! Any storms that do pop up could hold gusty winds and the threat for some hail.
Quiet conditions continue into the evening with temperatures not cooling down much only into the low 70s with that humidity lingering as well.
Heading into the work week heat and humidity continue to build every day. While Monday features a little bit more clouds it still will be in the upper 80s to low 90s across the board, with dew points into the low to mid 70s giving us that sticky soupy feel to the air.
Heat indices will feel like the mid to upper 90s at times for both Monday and Tuesday so use caution if spending longer amounts of time outside. Because of that heat and humidity, we do have that small chance for hit-or-miss pop-up showers and storms each and every day.
Tuesday looks to be the hottest day of the week with daytime highs reaching the low 90s with heat indices near 100 degrees by the afternoon. On top of that both Monday night and Tuesday night overnight temperatures struggle to fall below 70 degrees making for a steamy and uncomfortable evening ahead.
We continue to see hot and humid conditions into Wednesday and Thursday but nowhere near where Monday and Tuesday sit. But by Friday we see a change in the pattern meaning there is a chance for some stronger showers and storms for the end of the week, we will be keeping an eye on that in the coming days. Afterwards, the holiday weekend looks to provide those who are not a fan of the heat and humidity with relief with cooler temperatures and less humidity!
