LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Mason City Council will consider a resolution Monday during a special meeting originally called to establish a process to appoint an interim member of the public body.

Former council member Rita Vogel, who resigned Wednesday from the City Council, now faces a resolution from the body condemning her social media posts as creating “a hostile environment for all involved and needlessly stoked division between, and among, officials and residents of the City.”

The resolution references posts on social media, including Facebook, in which she allegedly posted “on social media as a means to mock, ridicule, and embarrass City volunteer board and commission members, City Council members, the City Manager, other City employees, and residents.”

While Vogel has resigned, her name remains on the Nov. 5 general election ballot and she contends she intends to run and get elected to the body.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Mason City Hall, 201 Ash St. in Mason.

The meeting can also be viewed on the city’s YouTube channel .
